Clinical Trial of "Rimonabant" - reduction of alcohal consumption.

National Institute of Health (NIH) Clinical Trial of "Rimonabant",
in the Voluntary
reduction of alcohal consumption.

Study # 04-AA-0072

Recruitment Status: Currently recruiting new subjects
Location: NIH - Bethesda, Maryland
This is a short term study requiring an overnight stay
(Note this is a study of "Healthy", that is Non-Treatment seeking people.)
This study will examine whether Rimonabant, a drug that blocks
cannabinoid receptors in the brain, affects alcohol consumption. Substances called endocannabinoids have many of the same
effects of marijuana to bind to these receptors. Animal studies show that
when cannabinoid receptors are blocked, animals consume less alcohol.
This study is open to:

Healthy normal volunteers between 21 and 40 years of age who consume between 20 and 40 alcoholic drinks per week. For more information
